12 months visit: the 12-month exam starts with a formal neurological exam by a child neurologist (a doctor with special expertise in disorders of the brain and nerves that affect children. This exam will assess cognitive function, cranial nerves, muscle tone and power, deep tendon reflexes, persistence of primitive reflexes, sensory system and gait if present. By assessing how much control your baby has over his/her movements and whether this is the same on both sides of the body. The second part of the visit consists on a developmental assessment administrated by an experienced developmental psychologist. This part of that exam toddlers and children, always have fun “ playing with blocks, toys, and other items to see if your baby is making that progress we expect.
2 and half years visit: Much like that 12-month visit, your child will get a neurological exam and age- appropriate developmental assessment.
4-years visit: Four years is the last visit for the study, your child will get a neurological exam, a preschool assessment, and a developmental test of visual motor integration assessment.
