Dr. Weiner is Professor of Medicine, Radiology, and Psychiatry at the University of California, San Francisco and is Scientific Director of the Magnetic Resonance Unit at the San Francisco VA Medical Center.
Dr. Weiner holds degrees from The Johns Hopkins University (BA) and SUNY Upstate Medical Center (MD). He was a research fellow at Yale University School of Medicine and the University of Wisconsin Institute for Enzyme Research. He has been a member of the faculty of the University of California, San Francisco since 1980 and Scientific Director of the Magnetic Resonance Unit at the San Francisco VA Medical Center since 1985.
Dr. Weiner received honors in organic chemistry research at The Johns Hopkins University, was the winner of an honor thesis award at SUNY Upstate Medical Center, and was a fellow of the National Kidney Foundation. He won the Young Investigator Award of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Weiner also authored over 300 publications, and heads the Magnetic Resonance Unit which is a interdisciplinary lab over 50 faculty and staff with annual grant support exceeding $5 Million/year.
