Basic Sciences Faculty Committee

Charge:

The Basic Science Faculty Committee advises the Chair of Radiology in new academic appointments and change in series for basic sciences faculty in the Department of Radiology. The Committee also provides guidance to basic science faculty seeking professional advancement within the Department and University. The Committee’s activities focus primarily on basic science faculty who are in the ladder rank, in-residence, adjunct, and professional research series.

Membership of the Basic Sciences Faculty Committee:

The Committee membership are appointed to include at least two faculty members each from the Ladder Rank/In-Residence and from the Adjunct series, with at least one faculty member at the Assistant level. The current Committee membership includes:

Ex officio members include the Chair of Radiology (Ronald Arenson, M.D.), the Vice Chair of Academic Affairs (Susan Wall, M.D.), the Chair of the Basic Science Mentoring Committee (David Saloner, Ph.D.), Chair of the Radiology Department Research Committee (William Dillon, M.D.), and a representative from the UCSF Committee on Academic Promotions (vacant).

Activities of the Basic Science Faculty Committee:

  1. Recruitments and New Academic Appointments:
    If you wish to create a new academic appointment or recruit a basic scientist for academic appointment in the Department of Radiology, please prepare and submit the Basic Science Faculty Recruitment form. After you submit the form, you also can upload supporting documents (e.g., job description, recruitment advertisement, CV of candidate for this position) if available.
  2. Recruitment Interview:
    An individual visiting UCSF to interview for a basic science faculty position in the Department of Radiology, should meet with a member from the Basic Science Faculty Committee to discuss Department and University policies and procedures concerning recruitment, advancement, and professional development. Please contact Committee Chair to coordinate a meeting between an interviewee and a member of the Committee.
  3. Change of Series:
    If you are a basic science faculty member seeking a change of series or promotion in the Department of Radiology, please prepare and submit the Basic Science Faculty Change of Series form. After you submit the form, please upload a copy of your CV and any other supporting documents (e.g., letters of recommendation) if available.
  4. Consultation with the Committee:
    If you would like to consult the Committee concerning change of series, promotion, or recruitment of a basic science faculty member, please contact the Committee Chair or any member of the Basic Sciences Faculty Committee.
