Robert K. Kerlan Jr., M.D., FSCVIR, is Chief of the Interventional Radiology Section in the Department of Radiology at UCSF.  Dr. Kerlan holds a BA and MD degree from the University of Southern California. He completed his radiology residency at the University of California, San Francisco.  While completing his radiology residency he was the Chief Resident, Radiology from 1980-81.   

Dr. Kerlan’s honors and awards include: Alpha Omega Alpha, Elmer Ng Award, American Cancer Society Research Fellow, Clarence Heller Fellow, Elected to Membership in the Society of Gastrointestinal Radiologists, Elected to Membership in the Society of     Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, Distinguished Reviewer Award Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Elected as Fellow in the Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology, Distinguished Reviewer Award Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Excellence in Teaching Award (Top 10% of speakers), Society of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology

My chief area of interest is in the management of liver disease including biliary disease, portal hypertension, and hepatic malignancy.  I am helping to develop innovative procedures to diagnose and treat patients with problems related to living donor transplantation.
