Daniel Kuo received his B.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from UC Berkeley in 2004 and subsequently worked at Oracle as a software engineer. He joined MQIR in June 2008 and is working with Dr. Xiaojuan Li on applying advanced MRI imaging and spectroscopy techniques to study musculoskeletal diseases with a focus on osteoarthritis and acute knee injuries. One of his projects involves trying to correlate imaging data with biochemical and gene analysis using cartilage and bone specimens.

Roland

Roland Krug, Ph.D., Research Specialist
415-514-9665
roland.krug@radiology.ucsf.edu

Roland Krug, Ph.D., studied physics and philosophy in Konstanz, Lausanne and Heidelberg, where he obtained his Ph.D. in medical physics at the German Cancer Research Center DKFZ. As a research specialist, he is mainly interested in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and digital image processing. His research focuses particularly on pulse sequence development for high resolution MRI, ultra high-field MRI at 7 Tesla and more recently positive contrast MRI for cell tracking. He is also involved in enhancing ultra short TE imaging for bone visualization. Further projects include structural analysis of trabecular bone using wavelets and bone imaging using a new in vivo high-resolution peripheral quantitative computed tomography modality.
