The Pediatric Radiology section is devoted to teaching medical students, residents in radiology, pediatrics, and pediatric surgery as well as faculty members in pediatrics and pediatric surgery. UCSF Pediatrics residents and UCSF medical students complete elective rotations in our section. In addition, medical students and pediatric radiology faculty from national and foreign medical centers visit our section. Those who rotate to and visit us observe and learn from our daily clinical activities and receive the opportunity to engage in research projects. In addition, we provide a variety of structured lectures:
Medical Students
For UCSF medical students, our section provides 2-3 “Introduction to Pediatric Imaging“ lectures per month at the Learning Center of the Department of Radiology. In addition, we contribute “Essentials of Pediatric Radiology“ lectures for 4th year medical students for the “CODA course (MED111)” at UCSF Medical School.
Radiology Residents
For Radiology residents and clinical fellows in pediatric Radiology, we present structured lectures and case presentations 3 times per month as noon conferences. In addition, a “core-course” in Pediatric Radiology, covering some central subjects of the specialty is provided during August of each Academic Year. Lectures in Emergency Radiology in Pediatrics are given in September as preparation for Radiology residents to take call.
Pediatric Radiology Fellowship Program
The pediatric radiology section trains two ACGME pediatric radiology fellows per year in all aspects of pediatric imaging. More information regarding the fellowship can be found at our fellowship program page.
