The Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program at the University of California, San Francisco, is one of the largest and most diverse in the United States and provides an unparalleled opportunity for postgraduate education. The mission of the residency program is to train leaders in research, teaching, public service, and clinical care.

The Department of Radiology enjoys a varied practice, as well as active basic science, translational, and patient-centered research programs, providing a broad range of experiences for our residents. The department has a rich tradition of innovation, which has generated a number of noteworthy technological advancements and imaging applications.

Many of our graduates serve in leadership positions in academia: UCSF radiology alumni include the current president of Johns Hopkins University, as well as current and past medical school deans, directors of medical centers, department chairs, heads of professional societies, journal editors, and notable principal investigators.
