Patient–Centered Imaging

Delivering outstanding patient care is our core value, and that is reflected in our attention to radiological exam quality, patient-specific imaging techniques, image interpretation, diagnosis, interventional therapies, consultation services, research, and training programs.

We specialize in tailoring examinations not only to the patient’s specific clinical question, but also to patient physiology. Our contrast material timing methods provide particular value for imaging of the liver and pancreas where slight differences in scan timing relative to contrast dye injection can make a great difference in finding and identifying tumors while imaging for cancer.

UCSF has designed advanced protocols that are carefully followed for abdominal clinical imaging exams in order to maximize the yield of diagnostic exams while minimizing risks to our patients. We recognize that every patient is different and that different abdominal organ systems and diseases require individual approaches.

Accurate Image Interpretation and Diagnosis

A primary focus of our efforts is the accurate interpretation and insightful and timely reporting of imaging exams. We are fortunate to have specialists who provide high-level interpretation of CT, MRI, PET/CT, radiography, ultrasound, and fluoroscopy of the abdomen and pelvis as well as vascular and non-vascular interventional procedures.

Comprehensive Services For All Abdominal Diseases

We are leaders in clinical programs for liver, bowel, colon, female pelvis, prostate, pancreatic, biliary, and PET/CT imaging as evidenced by ongoing recognition in the highest profile journals in the field of radiology.

The radiologists in our subspecialty perform the full range of diagnostic imaging within the abdomen and pelvis. Our staff includes many of the pioneers in imaging of the liver, pancreas, colon, uterus, ovaries, prostate, and bladder.
