Javier Villanueva-Meyer, MD Appointed Vice Chair, Quality and Technology

Headshot of Dr. Javier Villanueva-Meyer, recently appointed UCSF Radiology Vice Chair, Quality and Technology The UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is pleased to announce that Javier Villanueva-Meyer, MD has been appointed Vice Chair, Quality and Technology effective September 7, 2022.

In this role, Dr. Villanueva-Meyer will be responsible for maintaining the quality and safety of diagnostic and interventional clinical imaging services and provide medical director oversight of imaging technologies at UCSF Health and affiliate sites. He will also serve as the primary liaison with UCSF Health for quality issues in imaging, work to develop new tools and benchmarks to continuously improve clinical outcomes in Radiology, ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, and maintain and disseminate departmental quality and safety guidelines.

Dr. Villanueva-Meyer has served as Medical Director of MRI since 2021 and has distinguished himself as a leader across our mission areas as a talented clinician, patient advocate, transdisciplinary partner, and top-notch educator and mentor. In transitioning from Medical Director of MRI to Vice Chair of Quality and Technology, Dr. Villanueva-Meyer will leave open his former role.

The department thanks K. Pallav Kolli, MD, who has served as Associate Chair of Quality and Safety since February 2018. Dr. Kolli, who was appointed Chief, Interventional Radiology in October 2021, is leaving a lasting footprint on the quality and safety of imaging in our department through his nearly five years of service in this role.
