Department of Radiology Contributes to 2014 San Francisco AIDS Walk!

A team made up of staff, faculty and friends of UCSF’s Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging was among the 20 UCSF teams that joined together in Golden Gate Park to fundraise for Bay Area AIDS and HIV programs by participating in the San Francisco AIDS Walk on July 20, 2014.

Team Captain Kathryn Wold-Murphy was involved in AIDS Walk SF last year, and after joining the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging in January, she was “motivated to lead a Department AIDS Walk team” to fundraise for local HIV/AIDS services. A total of 25 department members joined the team, walking over 6 miles with 20,000 other AIDS Walk SF participants.

UCSF Radiology and Biomedical Imaging’s fundraising effort brought in a total of $6,932, a key part of the broad UCSF community’s philanthropic effort that raised over $75,000. The funding raised in this year’s AIDS Walk will go to 43 Bay Area HIV/AIDS organizations including 4 UCSF beneficiaries: the Alliance Health Project at UCSF, Pediatric HIV/AIDS services at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland (PHAP), 360: Positive Care Center at UCSF, and the HIV/AIDS Division at San Francisco General Hospital.

“Thanks to all who were a part of our team," said Wold-Murphy. “We very much appreciate the donations of the many department members, friends and family who supported "Team Radiology" in the 2014 San Francisco AIDS Walk!”
