Jeremy Montemayor, MSN, RN, CCRN, CEN, has a comprehensive perspective on various scenarios that he applies to streamlining complex workflows. Jeremy's nursing background before joining UCSF includes extensive experience in emergency medicine, intensive care, flight medicine, and interventional radiology and the Catheterization Laboratory. Since June 2022, he has been a supervisor responsible for diagnostic radiology nursing teams across multiple UCSF locations.

Throughout his career, Jeremy has consistently pursued higher education and professional development. After serving as a medic in the US military, he earned his bachelor's degree at Rowan University. He continued his academic journey by obtaining a master's degree at Chamberlain University and is currently enrolled in UCSF's Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program.

Jeremy's affinity for healthcare and nursing can be traced back to his family. His twin brother and his spouse are both nurses, while his mother had a long career as a post-open-heart nurse before transitioning to other roles. Jeremy's father worked in critical care and emergency room areas as a respiratory therapist. Inspired by his family's dedication to caring for others, Jeremy was drawn to leadership roles within nursing, driven by his strong sense of ethics and a desire to support frontline staff members in providing exceptional patient care.  Jeremy's decision to join UCSF was motivated by its reputation as one of the premier healthcare organizations in the Bay Area.

Jeremy lives by the philosophy, “Working hard for something we don’t care about is called stress. Working hard for something we love is called passion.”

As a radiology nursing supervisor, Jeremy has learned to distinguish between the tactics of a leader and a manager. Jeremy chooses to emphasize leadership, which involves envisioning the team's direction and goals. He aspires to employ a scientific management style, relying on data to drive decision-making and problem-solving. One of his primary areas of focus is standardization, recognizing that without standards improvement is hindered.

Since joining UCSF, Jeremy has worked to optimize the patient experience and identify activities that impede healthcare delivery by drawing from his diverse experiences as a bedside nurse, healthcare provider, patient, community member, and family member.  To enhance access to MRI scans for patients with implanted cardiac devices, he implemented system improvements and eliminated minor obstacles. Jeremy actively encourages nursing team members to share their insights, which provides him with valuable opportunities to improve operations and enhance patient care.

Exploring the West Coast from Mexico to Canada, he captures mesmerizing images of the Pacific Ocean using extended camera exposures to create a sense of serenity. Additionally, Jeremy has embarked on numerous trips to Iceland, where he immerses himself in the culture and captures the breathtaking beauty of the northern volcanic island through his photography. For Jeremy, photography is a form of meditation and solitude, allowing him to find fulfillment in pursuing a passion without any expectations.
