Melinda Parangan-Chu Selected as Director of Education

The UC San Francisco Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging is delighted to announce the selection of Melinda Parangan-Chu as Director of Education. She stepped into this new role on July 1, 2019.

Melinda has had an impressive career with the department, starting out in 1998 working for the UCSF Medical Center's radiology film library. She moved over to the campus in 2001 where she has excelled in various roles, most recently as the manager of the department's clinical fellowship programs and supervisor of the administrative professionals at both the Parnassus and Mission Bay locations.

"Many of you know Melinda as the tireless staff volunteer, currently serving as Radiology's Gallup ambassador, a position she has held for several years," said Mary Bobel, chief administrative officer. "In addition, Melinda has participated in and led many staff activities such as the Culture of Recognition and Moving on Up Committees."

Melinda's contributions have been numerous, and she was named the inaugural winner of the Cathy Garzio award in 2015, an award presented to a UCSF Radiology staff member who demonstrates commitment to excellence, integrity and innovation. The department is extremely grateful to Melinda for all of her contributions and commitment.

Melinda will lead the Education team in addressing the strategic planning and needs of medical students, residents and fellows. Her experience will enable her to support the department's educational mission in an outstanding way.

The department would like to thank Terry Brosnan, who retired at the end of June, for her exceptional service and guidance over the years in her role as the Director of Education.  Terry played an integral role in the revamping of the education team and the success of the department's medical student, residency, and fellowship education programs.
