UCSF Medical Center Named 5th Best Hospital in the Nation by U.S. News & World Report

 

UCSF Medical Center has been named one of the nation's top ten premier hospitals for a 17th consecutive year, earning a fifth-place position on the 2016-2017 Best Hospitals Ranking and Ratings, conducted by U.S. News & World Report. Additionally, the medical center was voted the best hospital in California and the best hospital in the West. UCSF’s placement on the “Honor Roll” establishes it as one of the nation’s top hospitals with outstanding performance across multiple areas of care.

“This is tremendous and gratifying recognition,” shares Ronald Arenson, MD, Chairman of the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging. The work of UCSF Imaging plays an important role by touching each and every area of expertise in the Medical Center, explains Dr. Arenson.

In addition to the overall ranking, U.S. News evaluates 16 complex medical specialties. UCSF Medical Center is ranked nationally in 15 adult specialties and nine children's specialties, with Top Ten spots in 13 specialty rankings: cancer; diabetes and endocrinology; ear, nose and throat; geriatrics; gynecology; nephrology; neurology and neurosurgery; ophthalmology; orthopedics; psychiatry; pulmonology; rheumatology and urology. UCSF also achieved the highest rating possible in eight procedures or conditions.
