UCSF Radiology Residency Program Wins 2018 Minnies Award for Best Radiologist Training Program!

Education, along with patient care and research are the core missions at UC San Francisco. Within the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging, we strive to create the best learning environment possible for radiology trainees. We are proud to have these efforts recognized by Aunt Minnie, an online radiology portal for medical professionals. For the last 19 years, the Minnies have recognized excellence in radiology.

This award distinguishes both the tremendous talent that our residents bring to UCSF and the tireless, consistent efforts that our faculty place on training. We have one of the largest radiology residency programs in the country, with 14 residents per class (with one spot devoted to Interventional Radiology). Each year, we seek candidates with strong educational backgrounds and well-rounded academic and personal experiences. Our mission is to train leaders in research, teaching, public service, and clinical care. From day one, our residents start with hands-on education. After satisfying departmental and specialty requirements, we like to give residents considerable flexibility to customize their experiences around their own career goals such as clinical field or research experience.

Earlier this year, our Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program reached the top of Doximity’s 2018-2019 Residency Program Navigator rankings for both reputation and research output for the fifth consecutive year. We continue to measure our success on the quality of medical students who enter our program, the great work that they put forth as trainees, and what they do once they enter the radiology workforce. When they look back on their time at UCSF positively and know that their time here prepared them for these next steps, we know we’ve done a great job.
